We have 5 beautiful grand kids that keep us quite busy!

After graduation, I began business studies at IUSB and worked part time with Frank Miko at his body shop in River Park and learned much about the auto damage appraisal process. Still needing money for school, I began to also write estimates for a number of other local body shops just to fill in my resources and provide for my brand new family. Before too long I was getting calls from shops to write estimates for massive impacts which would have taken their staff too long, especially during their busy times. This led to me being so busy, I quit school in my junior year and enjoyed a good living. However, Frank's Body shop burned down prompting him to move to an insurance appraisal company near Grand Rapids, MI for work. Soon after, he called me to join the company he worked for, as a contractor, as that company tried to secure a new large account with INA/ Horace Mann Ins of America. This required me to become a 'business' on paper and I filed as 'Auto Claims Service' and moved wife & baby to Fruitport, MI. We did secure the account and all went well (except for the winters!) for 4 years until Michigan instituted 'No Fault Insurance' and made independent appraisers obsolete. Not ever wanting to subject myself to the frigid winters where many times I would have to warm the pen in my hands just to thaw the ink long enough to write a couple lines, I decided to move my now larger family to Texas and continue my business there in the Houston area. God was with us as the business thrived to the point I had to continually add appraisers to accommodate my clients and it continued until Covid hit and, as a result, all my companies yielded to (the hoax) and dispelled their appraisal force and began relying on photos and guesswork to settle claims. So... after 46 years in business, I retired and became the 'old guy' in the neighborhood where anyone in the community could get help or advice regarding their cars as I watched insurance rates skyrocket. So, after a wonderful and fruitful life, I am satisfied and happy with my wonderful wife and family, and all the great memories of people I have known and loved as human beings back then and now.

Wow Jimmy!!!
I just signed on to this website being unaware of it until I started getting info on the upcoming 55yr reunion and I am glad I did. This is Doug Fox and I am now in Texas and retired. Long story short, I left Deans when I got Crohn's disease and went to work together with Frank Miko in Fruitport MI as an insurance auto damage appraiser. Too darn cold, so I moved the family to Friendswood TX near Houston and been here ever since. You still look real good in your photo though I'm not surprised knowing Waco's James Bond looks (and, of course, his Buicks) Are you still in the old neighborhood? I'd love to see you sometime when I'm up visiting my sister, Marcia, still in our old house. Unfortunately, I don't hear too well anymore, especially on the phone, likely due to all the loud power stuff at Deans for 8 years. I will try to get a recent photo updated if I can figure out how to do it. So glad to know you're still around. I'm happily married with 5 kids and 5 grandkids with one in his second year of college. God Bless you and your family and I hope to see you when I'm up. Doug
to wit: Kenny died in 2009 and Jesse Chmiel called me recently to let me know Paul died of complications with the second round of Covid earlier this year/ ...Our group keeps getting smaller.
